Life in the car rider’s line is always interesting. At the elementary school, many of the students walk to school and arrive well before the doors of the school are opened. There are car riders who are also dropped off before the doors open as well. I have a problem with this because the children have absolutely no adult supervision. They chase each other, race up and down the sidewalks, and try to perform breath-taking feats on the bicycle rack. Drives. Me. Crazy. When we get in the car rider line, I’m the parent that will just sit and wait until the doors open and the adults on duty are posted outside of the school before I let Cubs 2 and 3 get out of the truck. I also wait until they have walked into the school before I drive off. Cubs 2 and 3 say their goodbyes to Cub 4 and me, and then they head out toward the school. Every day, Cub 3 turns around and gives me one last wave goodbye before she heads into the school.
Just like I need to be assured that they are safely in the school doors before I drive away, Cub 3 looks for that assurance that I am going to stay right there in the car rider line until she has walked in. Every single morning, although she knows I’m going to stay right there, she turns and waves goodbye again. Isn’t it just comforting to know that someone is watching out for you? God does the same for us! We know it already, but it just feels comforting to be reminded of it every now and then. So, here’s a reminder for you today:
Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 26-28 (MSG)
Be assured that God is looking out for us! Yes! Even YOU!
